The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy.



November Election Tuesday November 3rd

Ballots must be in the hands of the Clerk on election day November 3rd and the postal service has warned people to mail early.  Absentee ballots can be turned in to collection boxes at city hall, the library and the Troy community center for Troy residents only.  You may vote early at the Troy city clerks office:

These candidate forums will also be available for viewing on public chanel 18 at the following times (times subject to change):

State Representative Dist 41 is airing Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and Friday at 11 a.m.
County Commisioner Dist 11 is airing on Saturdays at 4:30
County Commisioner Dist 16 is airing on Mondays at 12 and Wednesday 9:30 p.m.
County Commisioner Dist 20 is airing Wednesdays at 11:30 am.

Voter guides for the November elections have been printed by the LWV Oakland Area and are available at the Troy Public Library (at front enterance) and the Troy City Clerks office.  Reservation may needed to be made to pick up a copy depending on the coronavirus restrictions.  You can find voter information on online at on this web site PDF iconhere.

There will be 4 proposals on the November ballot 

1. Proposal 20-1 A proposed constitutional amendment to allow money from oil and gas mining on state-owned lands to continue to be collected in state funds for land protection and creation and maintenance of parks, nature areas, ,and public recreation facilities; and to describe how money in those state funds can be spent.

2. Proposal 20-2 A proposed constitutional amendment to require a search warrant in order to access a person’s electronic data or electronic communications.

3. Millage Replacement and Increase to Improve, Operate, and Maintain Parks, Open Space Areas, Trails, and Recreation Activities in Oakland County, Michigan

4. City Council Would be Authorized to Levy up to 1.1 Mills for Ten Years for Dedicated Library Funding

Oakland County Commisioner

Oakland County (and Troy) fall in the 11th District, Haley Stevens and Eric Esshaki are on the forum, but the Libertarian candidate, Leonard Schwartz, declined to participate.
